SGC MAINTENANCE NEWS

Dear Golfers,

We are nearing the end of April and the new golfing season has begun.  We have recently aerified greens, tees and greens surrounds, and have sanded, seeded and fertilized those areas. The fairways are planned to be aerified and top-dressed as soon as possible and have also been fertilized already.

Some areas, especially around the greens and tee complexes have very thinned out grass and have patches of rye and crab grass growing in them.   No need to worry. Though this is not normal (due to poor soil conditions during the renovation and grow in phase, the rye and crabgrass were the only grass species able to thrive in those conditions), we have increased maintenance practices in these areas and will see rapid growth in the next couple of weeks which will allow the other grass species to “catch up” and blend out the rye and crab grass.

In addition to this, we are going to order and install new hitting mats for all of the practice areas on the driving range and pitching area between holes 9 and 10.

As always, we will strive to do our best to provide you with excellent playing conditions at all times. Please continue to help your fellow golfers, the maintenance staff and the golf course in general, by staying off of worn areas with your golf cars and push carts, replacing your divots and fixing ball-marks on greens.  Please obey the roped off areas we are using to control traffic flow in the seeded areas.

Please repair your ball marks and replace your divots on the practice pitching green.

We will try to keep any inconveniences to a minimum and thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.
